I said it before and I'll say it again. Modern MEDICINE (and the slow and painful rise of rights of 'non-whites') is PART of the 'modern world' as much as smog and oil spills.

The constrast between the old city and the new one is so well done. Each detail seems to contribute to it. This reminds me of Dubaï, when compating its city center to Khor Dubaï.

Absolutely stunning work! I was sure I was looking at a painting until I saw the wireframe of it; the vibrancy of the colors, the details of the meshes and textures and the lighting fooled me completely. I wish I could do something an iota as good as this.

at first I thought this was an amazing painting. then I looked at your other pieces you linked, and realized it was a 3-d render (who pays attention to labels?)  ;-)
stunning concept, jaw-dropping realization, gorgeously detailed render, obviously much love and work went into this amazing piece.
I am so glad these poor villagers at least have their own water source that does not depend on the leavings of the city on the cliff. who knows what's growing  in the stuff dumped into the river.
a little surprising that the folks in the high-rise have not complained about the little camp spoiling their view, but then, perhaps they never really look out their windows anymore.

Applause, applause, applause.

Intriguing. Notice how the village is completely open, with no defensive works of any kind, while the city is surrounded by a 60-meter embattled wall. What are the city-dwellers afraid of, a tsunami? Low, nested rings of concrete walls, ditches, and razor wire would suffice to keep the wetbacks out, while providing the same protection (i.e. none) against rockets, artillery, and aircraft.

Add a couple rickety bridges between the city and the village, and you'd get the place where I live :)

Came courtesy TV Tropes.  Stayed to admire the close ups.

Beautiful work all around.  Though with the greenery in the hires' village, and the organic feel, I wonder who's got the better life.  At least I know the peasants have a church. :)

Spectacular.  Deserving of the Daily Deviation.

completely gets the point across regarding global warming, pollution, and the depletion of natural resources.
Congrats, my friend, on summing up the thousands of words I could say about our world in one picture.

I think this piece is just, I don't know, there's no word for it! It shows man's evolution from a small village to a massive city. I don't even know what to say it's just so amazing.

Reminds me of an idea for a story I had. Very nice. Prefer the city though with an occasional drive in the country.

The city represents enlightenment (utilitarian, liberal, progress) and the country represents romanticism (individuality, happiness, nature).

One wonders which side of the river really has the better quality of life.  The far side's probably more comfortable if your rich, but might be a much worse place to live if you're poor.
